Firewall & Spam Protection
If your mail is delivered to our mail system for spam and virus filtering before being forwarded to your mail server you can lock down your firewall to only accept inbound mail from our system. This eliminates spam and virus attempting to deliver directly to your server.
Firewall Settings
Lock down your firewall to only accept inbound connections on port 25 from the following Xtreme address ranges:
IP Addresses
---
203.171.32.64/26 (Subnet Mask 255.255.255.192)
203.171.36.64/26 (Subnet Mask 255.255.255.192)
MX Records And Settings
You will also need to have an MX record pointing to your sending IP address. Some mail servers will do a test to check the sending mail server does if fact have an MX record pointer for the sending domain.
MX Records
yourdomain.co.nz MX preference = 10, mail exchanger = mx1.xtreme.net.nz
yourdomain.co.nz MX preference = 20, mail exchanger = mx2.xtreme.net.nz
Notes
If you wish to foward mail though Xtreme, please forward to mxrelay1.xtreme.net.nz NOT smtp.xtreme.net.nz.
